Town bounce back with vital away win

Town travelled into the Black Country, looking to bounce back from the disappointing heavy defeat the previous week in the FA Vase, at the hands of current league leaders Wolverhampton Sporting Community.

The 1st chance of the game however fell to the home side straight from the kick off. Ellwell played the ball out wide over the head of Ellis Stubbins to Brogan, he sent over a cross to Royles whose shot was then deflected by Aaron Stubbins for a corner, which was easily cleared. The home side had the better of the exchanges in the 1st _ of an hour and was in the 19th minute before Town created their 1st chance which came from a corner. Stubbins sent in the ball which Ward won and played onto Ashley Stubbins, he fired in a shot which Sleaford in the home sides goal got down well to save. Town began to have more of the play and in the 27th minute opened the scoring, Aaron Stubbins won the ball off Royles and played it through for Seekings to run onto, he outpaced thehome sides defence and fired the ball in from 10 yards. Just before the break Town should have increased their lead, Seekings sent in a free kick that Griffin got a great header on but the ball hit the under side of the bar and bounced clear.

Half time; Bilston Town 0 Bewdley Town 1

The 2nd half began with Town very nearly increasing their lead as early as the 3rd minute, Orme played the ball behind the full back to Wellings, he sent over a dangerous cross that Seekings couldn't quite reach in front of goal, and the ball was cleared. The 53rd minute and another chance was missed by Town, this time it was a Seekings cross that was put over the bar from close range by Wellings. Town were forced to make a change in the 59th minute with Hyde replacing Aaron Stubbins. The 77th minute saw Town finally increase their lead, a throw from Hyde was flicked on by Martin to Wellings, he cut inside and fired in a shot from the edge of the 18 yard box which beat Sleaford to put Town 2-0 up. The lead was reduced in the 83rd minute, Griffin lost the ball on the half way line to Clarke, he played it through to substitute Archer who beat the advancing Steadman from 10 yards. Town made their 2nd change in the 87th minute with Lester replacing Ellis Stubbins and within 3 minutes, following a through ball by Seekings, sent over a cross that Wellings made no mistake from and Town restored their 2 goal advantage. Deep into stoppage time Town scored again Seekings took a quick throw to Martin who returned the ball and he hit a speculative shot that Sleaford spilled and the ball trickled into the net.
