Line-Up:  Rogers, Maiden (Field), Lloyd-Williams, Anson, Tarry, Davies (McNally), Napthine, Downes, Neil (Kerby), Payton, Hyde.

The lads started 2012 with a solid performance and a two-nil victory away to Mostyn Rangers.

In both halves the boys played some good passing football and created some good goal scoring opportunities. In the first half a well taken goal, following a superb cross from the right-wing gave Town a 1-0 half-time lead.

In the second–half a well executed free-kick extended the score to two-nil and ensured Town would go on to secure another three valuable points.

Mostyn’s two central defenders must be credited for how well they defended today, giving our centre forwards a very tough test!

Overall a great effort from every player in our squad today on their first fixture for what seems like quite a while ago now!

Unfortunately the boys were knocked out of this seasons League Cup competition following an entertaining cup tie against Leigh & Bransford.

The lads made a perfect start to the match, taking a 1-0 lead with a superb finish, following an excellent spell of passing from defence to attack.

It was the away side though who then went on to dominate in the first half, deservedly scoring two goals to take a

2-1 lead into the interval. Goalkeeper Jack Rogers must be credited for some fantastic saves to keep his side in the match!

In the second half the boys brought the scores level, with another very well taken goal! It was Leigh & Bransford though who went on to score two excellent counter-attacking goals to secure their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

The effort from Town could not be faulted! However, too many times the ball was given away cheaply and nowhere near enough chances were created to seriously test the opposition’s goalkeeper.

Like our previous League meeting, a brilliant match to watch played in a very good spirit! Congratulations to Leigh & Bransford, we wish you well in the remainder of the competition!
