Bewdley Town 2 Droitwich Spa 3

Bewdley entertained Droitwich Spa in an early round  the Midland Football League cup.  Bewdley are aware that lower ranked Droitwich are a dangerous opponent  as they defeated Worcester City in the county cup a couple of weeks ago.

The game  started   evenly  with both sides seemingly wary of their opposition. The nearest  Bewdley chame to scoring was a chance that clipped the top of the bar.  The deadlock was broken after 9 mins when Perry Moss fired a well-placed header into Haydn Whitcombe’s goal, giving the stopper no chance.

Bewdley responded but were unable to threaten the Droitwich goal and they were further punished twenty minutes later when Charlie Tilley’s  drive was initially saved by  Hayden Whitcombe  but  the ball trickled over the line for the Saltmen’s second.

Bewdley came out in the second half  and put pressure  on Droitwich’s defence. Connor Jakeways, Ben Worthington and Charlie Foley all had chances and tested the Droitwich keeper.  They finally got the break-though when a low drive was saved but Callum Gillies was able to tap home the rebound.

Droitwich reacted straight away  and notched their third when a low cross was turned home. Bewdley keep on pressing, kept on creating and got their second  though Ben Worthington. They then pressed for the equaliser but Droitwich  held firm to record a famous victory.
